Catch by DAM

Catch by DAM is an Asian-fusion restaurant located in and connected to Le Embassy Hotel. Offering local delights with an Asian twist, Catch by DAM uses only the freshest ingredient to prepare their dishes.

It is extremely easy to spot Catch by DAM from the roadside. Their well-lit signage was very eye-catching.

For guests staying at Le Embassy Hotel, you can actually walk to the restaurant from the lobby as both properties are connected. In fact, the toilet at Catch by DAM is actually located beside the hotel’s reception. We had a lovely stay at Le Embassy Hotel, and you can check out our review HERE.

As you enter the restaurant, you are immediately welcomed by a row of Bearbricks. Talking about a grand entrance eh? The interior design of the restaurant is pretty dreamy, with shades of white and blue around the restaurant.

Catch by DAM had an extensive menu on offer. However, they only have mocktails, as well as beer, wine and hard liquor. No cocktail is served.

Yuzu Mint Club Soda

For drinks, I decided to go for a Yuzu Mint Club Soda. The sourness from the yuzu and the mint made this drink extremely refreshing.

To start of, I had the oyster shooter, one of the signature starter at Catch by DAM. When I was recommended the oyster, I was pretty hesitant about it as I’m not a big oyster fan. However, the air-flown oyster from France blew me away. It was marinated in a special sauce to eliminate the fishiness, and goes oh so well with the fresh raw quail egg.

The moment the egg yolk broke felt like a harmonious marriage of the fat juicy oyster and the creaminess from the yolk itself! Totally changed my perception towards oysters!

The next dish I had was freshly picked salad, with roasted cashew nuts and mandarin orange. I also added the Tete De Moine cheese to add some savouriness to this dish. The salad is not bitter, and the nuts and oranges added a different dimension in terms of flavour and texture to this dish.

The Tete De Moine cheese had a very interesting texture. It almost felt like shaved ice. Flavor wise it is pretty mild.

Lobster Bisque

The next dish I had was lobster bisque, served with a parmesan garlic bread. The soup was very thick and creamy, and has a strong seafood flavor. The garlic bread was well-toasted and goes well with the soup.

Seafood Risotto

For Entrée, I had a seafood broth risotto with seared Atlantic cod, and topped with salmon roe, shaved Parmigiano Reggiano and saffron tuile. The risotto was cooked perfectly, and well-seasoned. The cod tasted extremely fresh, and was super flaky. Each mouthful of this risotto was like eating seafood, abundance of flavors in this risotto.

I also had the Chargrilled French-trimmed lamb rack. This was, hands down, one of the best lamb rack I’ve had in a long time. The lamb rack was chargrilled, hence it had a strong charred flavor on the outside. The meat was so tender and the fat was rendered perfectly, there was no gaminess whatsoever in the meat.

The honey mint sauce, in my opinion, was what make this dish stands out. Sweet and refreshing sauce cuts through the oiliness and the fats of the lamb.

This is a classic, reimagined. Assam Laksa, so often referred to as a street-food dish, was taken to another level by the talented chefs at Catch by DAM.

Laksa noodles wok fried with the Assam Laksa broth. The flavors amplified and you can really taste a strong lime and assam flavor when eating this dish of heavenly goodness. This dish is only available in the afternoon and I am very thankful for the team at Catch for preparing this for me during my dinner visit.

Final Thoughts

This has to be one of the best experience I’ve had in any restaurant. Great food, fresh ingredient, and innovative cooking. Food and taste aside, the team at Catch by DAM was very enthusiastic and passionate. A special mention goes to my server, Yi Xuan, who was impeccable in her service and hospitality. She knew the dishes very well and goes above and beyond in making my dining experience a wonderful and memorable one.
