The living area is pretty large for 2, and can even host guests.

The sofa is very comfortable.

As the hotel practices Green initiatives, there is a water dispenser in every room.

Right by the entrance is a small kitchenette, perfect for both short-term and long-term stay.

We really liked the working desk.

I was given a plate of welcome fruit platter and a reusable bottle and bag!

The bedroom itself has a comfortable king-sized bed.

Full set of toiletries are provided and replenished on a daily basis.

There is a bathtub and the shower area is separated from the toilet area.

Green Initiatives by Olive Tree Hotel

Olive Tree pays huge attention to green initiatives. First impression of the hotel was that there are numerous upcycle initiatives on display. The hotel uses plastics, and old metals to construct art pieces, and it is displayed around the property. The standout was this metal tree located by the lobby lift.

There is also some display in the restaurant.

More displays around the property.

The hotel also try to reduce the impact of food waste by decomposing food. There are several decomposer in the hotel.

The food decomposer is located right beside the smoking area. Olive Tree Hotel is an entirely smoke-free property.

The green initiatives of Olive Tree Hotel does not stop here. With new technologies, comes more E-waste. In the lobby area, you can find an E-waste recycle bin. Depositing your E-waste will gain you points, which you can use to redeem some vouchers.

Imagine growing plants and vegetables with no soil and minimal water. Take a look at this hydroponic farming set-up at Olive Tree Hotel. There is also an Aquaponic system. If you are staying at Olive Tree Hotel, pay attention to see if you can spot a mini plant in your room. The plant comes from these innovative and green farming systems.

Facilities at Olive Tree Hotel

Breakfast was typical with some local and international dishes. Some of the dishes are limited and changes on a daily basis, including a very yummy homemade Chee Cheong Fun and Chinese Fried Dumpling.

We also had lunch and dinner at Olive Tree Hotel. For lunch, we tried the Merdeka special Western set. We tried both the mains on offer, which includes a seabass and pasta carbonara.

For dinner, we had Naan, prepared fresh from scratch. It was served with Chicken Tandoori. We also had a vegetarian Nasi Biryani (served with Aloo Gobi, Raita and Papadom) with a side of Chicken Masala.

The hotel also has a swimming pool and gym.

There is also a nursing room.

Meeting rooms, business center and also event space are available as well.

As a guest of Olive Tree Hotel, you can enjoy discounted massage at Thai Oasis. It is a mere 5 minute drive from the hotel.

We had the chance to try the 1-hour massage at Thai Oasis. Masseuse are from Thailand and provide a professional and authentic Thai Massage.

We were slightly confused initially, as there was no one at the front to welcome us. We were there standing for a good 2 minutes.

Once you have done selecting your desired package, you are asked to change into their house slippers.

Your masseuse will greet you here and clean your feet! You are then escorted to the massage room upstairs.

After the massage, you are given a warm tea.

Final Thoughts

My stay at Olive Tree was eye-opening. This is my first time staying in a hotel that focuses so heavily on green initiatives. That being said, the staff were professional and overall very hospitable. Olive Tree Hotel is also located in a great location, and is just 10 minutes to the airport, and around 20 minutes to Georgetown. Around the hotel also has many eateries, both local and international.
