Hailed as Southeast Asia’s one and only art-designed pool party, Zippy Day Club offers an experience through art, where patron can enjoy bottle service in the cabanas or oversized daybeds, dance to the music or cool down in the swimming pool overlooking the Andaman Sea at Karon Beach.
During my stay at Thavorn Palm Beach Resort, I had the opportunity to head over to Zippy Day Club to try out some of their food and cocktail. Located within the compound of Thavorn Palm Beach Resort, Zippy Day Club is an external vendor of the resort. You can check out our review of Thavorn Palm Beach Resort HERE.
The Food
For starters, we had the Bruschetta and Texas Chicken Wings. Both dishes were tasty but we prefer the wings with its delightful sauce, and crispy outer skin. The Bruschetta has a strong garlic flavor which we always appreciate!
For our entrée, we had the Spaghetti Creamy Smoked Salmon. The spaghetti was cooked perfectly, and served in a creamy white sauce. there were also pieces of salmon mixed into the sauce. Big slices of smoked salmon came served on top of the spaghetti.
The Cocktail
There were multiple cocktails on offer, including classic and signature We had 2 choices of classic cocktails, and also had to try 2 of their signature cocktails. Here’s what we tried.
For classic cocktails, we went with the Americano and Moscow Mule. For Americano, we felt that it was a bit too sweet and perhaps the Sweet Vermouth was added a bit too much for our liking. We do however, enjoyed the Moscow Mule. A Vodka base cocktail, it goes well with Ginger Beer and fresh lime. For that, we enjoyed the Moscow Mule more than the Americano.
Back: Americano
For the signature cocktail, we went with two of the more swanky cocktails. OJ Disco is a Vodka based cocktail, using the Dutch brand of Ketel One. It then has several fruit mixes in the cocktail, including Orange Juice, Passion Fruit, Mango Syrup and Lime. This drink was served in a mini disco ball and we really liked the presentation of the drink. It was a very tropical and ‘90s’ drink.
The second signature cocktail we had was Poppy Cron. The name of the cocktail was derived from the work popcorn, and as the name suggest, it is a popcorn-themed cocktail. This is essentially a Bourbon based drink, and mixed with Lychee and Caramel as well as Popcron syrup, with a dash of Lime juice. The drink tasted like liquid popcorn, as it has a very strong caramel flavor. This drink was served in the popcorn holder and was topped with freshly popped popcorn.
Final Thoughts
We find Zippy Day Club to be innovative and we really liked its funky and old school interior design. The servers were all very friendly and it s a perfect place to impress your Instagram followers. There is also a pool where you can enjoy sipping on cocktails while enjoying the sun. Towels and showers are available. Unfortunately, during my visit the weather was not kind and I had to opt out from chilling by the pool.
