Sam’s Steak & Grill is an award wining restaurant located in Holiday Inn Resort Phuket. Sam’s specializes in steaks, but also has a very extensive wine list. During my stay at Holiday Inn Resort Phuket, I am lucky enough to dine in at Sam’s. They are open from Wednesday – Sunday for dinner, and there is a strict dress code. Beachwear and sports clothing are not allowed in the restaurant.
There is a 3-course set menu, where you can choose 1 starter, 1 main, and 1 dessert. Amuse Bouche will be served before the starter, and a palate cleanser is served just before your main course. The Amuse Bouche is a Salmon Tartare. I’m not a big fan of raw fish, but it was very fresh and incredibly sweet. There is also a bread basket that is complimentary.
I also placed an order of foie gras as an additional starter. The foie gras itself was very buttery, and goes well with the balsamic reduction. The glazed apple was delightful as it helps to cut through the greasiness of the foie gras.
For my starter, I went for the Canadian Lobster Roll. Wrapped in a cucumber wrap, the lobster meat is sweet and succulent, and served alongside a spicy cocktail sauce.
Being a non-beef eater in a steak house, my choices are limited. Thankfully, I managed to order a salmon as my main course. A huge fillet of salmon pan-grilled, though unfirtunately i find the salmon to be slightly overcooked, and the meat was slightly on the dry side in the middle. The salmon came served with a side of grilled asparagus and mashed potato.
To end my feast, I had the Crème Brulee. Presentation wise, it was outstanding. The Crème Brulee was served in a nest of honey web, and the caramel was crispy. Overall I really enjoyed the dessert and a perfect end to the meal.
For drinks, I also had a house sparkling wine (Breganze Prosecco Spumante Extra Dry), as well as a specialty cocktail.
Final Thoughts
I really enjoyed the food at Sam’s. The service was top notch and I really was very impressed with the impeccable service of the team at Sam’s. It is definitely on the pricier side when it comes to food options in Phuket but it is a one that is worth splurging on.
