Thavorn Palm Beach Resort is a 5 star family resort located at the front and center of Karon Beach – a beach known to be the perfect family beach and sunset spot. It is located in a very strategic location, with the beach just a stone’s throw away and within 5-10 minutes drive to Phuket’s major attraction.
First Impression
The entrance to the resort is pretty tricky, as you would have to maneuver through smaller path of roads. We were then welcomed by the amazing white and Thai Legend-inspired architecture.
Check in was pretty fast. I was told that my room wasn’t ready when I arrived (1230PM), hence the front desk guy was kind enough to give me a tour around the hotel. The hotel is pretty huge, with several F&B outlets as well as 3 swimming pools, with giant slides for both adults and kids.
Soon at around 2PM, my room was ready and I was escorted to my room.
The Room
The room is pretty standard, but what I liked is how nature it is, and its white interior design. As you enter the room, there is a open closet on the right. A safe, as well as bathrobes are available for use. There is also slipper, and I would highly recommend using it as the balcony can get slippery sometimes.
There is also a mini bar where bottled water, as well as coffee and tea is available.
As for the toilet, basic toiletries are provided. The toilet and shower area is separated by a glass. There is also only a single vanity in the bathroom. There was no bathtub in my room category, but what I really liked was the see-through glass from the toilet to the bed.
Over to the bedroom, there is a luggage space for you to place your luggage. The bed itself is pretty standard, big enough for 2 adults and very comfortable to sleep in. There is also a lazy bed by the window, where in the right posture, will be able to see the ocean!
Also by the window is the working desk.
We extremely liked the balcony. It was very spacious, and we spent our nights drinking on alcohol and enjoying the sea breeze. On a perfect day, you would be able to see the clear ocean, as well as the swimming pools of the resort.
Activities – Thavorn Palm Beach Resort
There are many activities you can do during your stay at Thavorn Palm Beach Resort. We recommend at least staying here for 2 nights to fully enjoy and appreciate the activities on offer.
For kids, the resort has 4 exciting slides, with the slides going as high as 4-storeys. There are different slides from curved to roller coaster spiral, enough to satisfy both kids and adults. Gym room is also available for the health-conscious.
There is also a botanical garden by the pool, perfect for that Instagram pic!
Kids room is also available, along side an ice cream shop and a pizza restaurant!
What makes Thavorn Palm Beach Resort truly stands out as the number 1 family resort in Phuket is that it has a Animal Village Petting Zoo! With 2 sessions happening everyday, this is the perfect opportunity for kids and adults alike to get up close and personal with animals such as sheep, chicken, rabbit, and piglets! You will also have the chance to feed these cute animals.
The food – Thavorn Palm Beach Resort
Breakfast is served buffet style daily at Thavorn Palm Beach Resort’s breakfast restaurant. The choices are pretty limited, but of good quality. The variety was unfortunately, lacking.
During my stay, there are only a handful of in house cafe/restaurant open. I spent most of my time at Ciao Pizza and Grill Restaurant. It is located by the beachside and is next to Zippy Day Club – a funky restaurant – and you can check out our review of Zippy Day Club HERE.
On my day of arrival, I decided to have lunch at Ciao. One of their signature menu includes a Chocolate ice cube with milk, which I ordered. It was served with a cup filed with Chocolate cubes, and you have to pour the milk into the cup for the ice to melt and then slowly becomes a iced chocolate drink.
For mains, I decided to go for Japanese, a pork tonkatsu with Japanese curry rice. The portion at Ciao is pretty huge!
I also tired their Mocha Ice Blended, as well as fresh coconut.
I couldn’t resist trying the Signature Tom Yum Goong, which came served with a few jumbo prawns. I also tried a Kurobuta Pork Chop, known as the Wagyu of pork.
For dinner, I decided to go for stir fried pork belly rice. The pork belly are cooked to perfection and has a great distribution of fat and lean meat.
Final Thoughts
We really enjoyed our stay at Thavorn Palm Beach Resort. Boasting 4 slides, pools and gym, as well as a botanical garden and an animal farm, Thavorn Palm Beach Resort is the best Family resort in Phuket. Do check them out whenever you’re in town!
