M Social Singapore – Hotel Review 2022

M Social Singapore is a lifestyle boutique hotel designed by French visionary and industrial designer, Philippe Starck. The hotel was designed to be an avantgarde laboratory, and a stage for creativity. The hotel brings about a bold and contemporary design – with the vibrant patterns and colors used to bring out the modern and contemporary look. All the upholsteries, including the table and sofa in the rooms, are designed by Philippe Starck as well. Located at the end (or start) of Robertson Quay, delicious cafes and eateries are just a stone’s throw away from the hotel.

Our stay at M Social Hotel Singapore is part of the Mix & Stay package offered by the hotel, which includes a 1-night stay at a Loft Gallery Room, daily buffet breakfast for 2 persons, a complimentary M Social Cocktail workshop at Beast & Butterflies, a complimentary M Social Cocktail Shaker, as well as complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi. Early check-in and late check-out is subject to availability, and possibly a few. We also had dinner at Beast & Butterflies, and you can check out our review HERE.

First Impression – M Social Singapore

Our grab drove us all the way into this drop off area, and we were welcomed by this stunning mural at the front of the hotel. Immediately, we sensed that this was a hotel that oozes a different vibe compared to many traditional hotels. We especially loved the tiles on the floor, it connects from the lobby all the way to Beast & Butterflies, M Social Hotel’s in-house restaurant. The check in area boast a public working desk, as well as several counters for check-in and check-out purposes.

We arrived super early at around 11AM, and we were gladly told that our room was ready for check-in! The check-in process was a breeze as well and I managed to get my keys to my room in less than 10 minutes.

The Room

We stayed on the 10th floor of the hotel, which is the highest floor at M Social Singapore. On the way to our room, we loved the synonymous design of the carpet on the floor and the lighting on the ceiling. That being said, we do find the corridors to be a little bit too cramp.

As we open the door to our room for the next 2 nights, we were welcomed by the sight of a lovely bed, and what caught our attention was the staircase to the upper floor. Our loft room consists of 2 floors, with the lower floor being the toilet and sleeping area, and the upper floor being the lounge area, as well as a working desk and TV.

Complimentary mini bar is provided, with bottled mineral water, tea and coffee on offer. A single vanity is detached from the toilet and located beside the minibar, where toilet amenities are provided as well. Beside the single vanity is an open wardrobe, with super-comfy bathrobes for guests to use as well.

The toilet, albeit small, was very sufficient. Toilet area was separated by a glass door, and the shower area has a rain-shower (always a plus!). If you’re travelling with families, the blind in the toilet can be shut for privacy. Otherwise, you can always leave it open for some intimacy.

The upper floor of the rooms boast a lounge sofa, a working desk as well as a TV. The TV can be chrome-casted as well.

The view from the upper floor was pretty nice too. Safety measures are also in place to ensure one does not fall down from the upper floor.

The Facilities – M Social Singapore

Swimming pool and gym are open for usage for in-house guests. Both facilities are located on the 5th floor of the hotel. You must get an access card from the front desk before proceeding to the pool and gym.

Entrance to pool and gym

The pool is pretty standard, though we appreciate the amount of sun loungers by the pool. The gym itself is equipped with many equipment, and is sufficient for light or heavy workouts. Both the swimming pool and the gym is open daily from 8AM-8PM.

The Breakfast

Breakfast buffet is served at M Social Singapore’s in-house restaurant, Beast & Butterflies. The buffet spread was pretty limited to western and oriental dishes. That being said, we were very impressed by the egg station as it was mastered by a robot arm. We also enjoyed the fruits on offer during the breakfast buffet, as all the fruits were super sweet!

We certainly enjoyed the egg station the most. We ordered omelette, and we get to choose whatever condiments we want (although there was no cheese!). The omelette was cooked to perfection, slightly burned on the outside, and still runny on the inside. Egg lovers might not be fond of this machine though, as it can only master either a sunny-side up or omelette. However, there is scrambled egg on the western station.

Cocktail Workshop

Our stay at M Social Singapore includes a complimentary cocktail workshop. The workshop is held inside the bar of Beast & Butterflies. The session started off by introducing us to 5 main liquors, followed by a tasting session as well as the origin stories of each liquor.

Can you guess the type of liquor?

The bartender would then use the 5 liquors to make 5 different cocktails for tasting. At the end of the session, you get to make your own signature cocktail too!

Final Thoughts

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at M Social Singapore. We especially liked the designs and detailing of the hotel, and the interior design of the hotel room. The location is also pretty strategic, as it is located near to many different eateries. Clarke Quay, is a mere 15 minutes walk away. We would highly recommend taking a stroll by the Singapore river in the evening, and enjoy a delightful dinner at night at Beast & Butterflies. You can check out our review HERE.
