Holiday Inn Resort Phuket is located in the heart of Patong, with Patong Beach just across the road and the famous Bangla Road a mere 10 minutes walk away. Holiday Inn Resort Phuket is part of IHG, offering upper mid-scale hospitality at affordable rates.
The resort is separated into 2 wings, one being the Main Wing and the other being the Busakorn Wing. The Main Wing is more suited for families with kids, whereas the Busakorn Wing features adult-only villa and swimming pool, offering an exclusive ‘resort within a resort’ experience. During my stay, I was given a suite at the main wing, with a room that has a view overlooking the free form swimming pool as well as Patong Beach. More on that later.
First Impression
The drive into Holiday Inn Resort was pretty interesting, as you definitely would pass by the infamous Patong beach, as well as Bangla road. The moment I reached the resort, I was greeted by a pool of cute yellow ducks. I was then escorted to the lobby area for check in. Check in was pretty efficient and I got the keys to my room in no time at all!
The Room
My room is located on the second floor of the main wing. The main wing is located in the lobby area, hence it’s pretty convenient. That being said, Busakorn Wing, which is located about 5 minutes walk away, offers top-notch privacy. The corridor of my rooms is semi-outdoor, with a miniature floral garden that guest can enjoy if they wish.
As you enter the room, you would notice a wardrobe on your right, where you can hang your cloths. Bathrobe is also provided. Further down is a luggage area to put your bags. On another closet, there is an umbrella, as well as a safe.
The toilet is pretty huge, and has a single vanity along with a standing shower area as well as a bathtub. Full set of toiletries are provided. The toilet also features a see-through glass for intimacy. That being said, blinds can be put down for privacy.
The sleeping area is extremely spacious. There is a long table that serves as a working desk. The bed itself is super large, and more than comfortable for 2 adults to sleep in. There is also a living area where there is sofa and different chairs for you to sit on.
The minibar is fully stocked with complimentary drinks and coffee and tea. The mini bar at Holiday Inn Phuket has one of most diverse of tea selection in any hotel I stayed in! The hotel is also very generous in providing 8 bottles of water.
The balcony also has seating area, and overlooks the free form swimming pool as well as Patong Beach.
Food Options – Holiday Inn Resort Phuket
There are numerous food options available at Holiday Inn Resort Phuket. I was lucky enough to try out all of the restaurants on offer – Thai food at Charm Thai, Italian food at Terrazzo, and western delight at Sam’s Steak & Grill. I’ve made a separate review on Sam’s, and you can check it out HERE.
Charm Thai
Charm Thai serves up authentic Thai Cuisine made from fresh market produce. Located in the Busakorn Wing, Charm Thai is open for all day dining, including breakfast.
On my first day, I had my lunch at Charm Thai. I went for a classic Thai dish, Goong Ob WoonSen (Shrimp baked with glass noodle). The shrimp tasted pretty fresh, although I would hope that there would be a bit more sauce in the dish. I also went for a classic Apperol Spiritz to kick start my staycation at Holiday Inn Resort Phuket.
Terrazzo
Specialized in authentic Italian cuisine, Terrazzo invites casual diners to enjoy its food on a al-fresco dining concept, featuring live music every evening. Located in the main wing and by the pool, Terrazzo offers direct access to Patong Beach as well.
I had my lunch on the second day of my stay at Holiday Inn Phuket. I first went for a mushroom soup, served with a baked pastry on top. The pastry was delicious and the soup way super flavorful.
I then opted for a ‘Original’ Carbonara Pasta. The pasta was creamy, but I find it to be slightly salty (probably de to the parmesan cheese).
To complement my meal, I ordered a signature cocktail called Andaman Pearl. The cocktail has Malibu as base, and mix with juices such as Pineapple and Guava.
Pool Bar – Happy Hour
Happening everyday from 4PM-6PM, selected beverages are on 50% discount. I went to the pool bar located beside Charm Thai at the Busakorn Wing, and had a glass of Pina Colada and coconut juice. Both were equally delicious and super affordable.
Breakfast
Breakfast is served at 2 restaurants located in both wings. For guests staying at the Main Wing, breakfast is served at Sea Breeze. Whereas for guest staying at Busakorn Wing, breakfast is served at Charm Thai.
During my stay, I enjoyed breakfast at Sea Breeze. Breakfast was decent, with continental, western and Thai dishes on offer. Coffee selection, including mocha, is available for guests as well.
Evening Refreshments
Happening on every Thursday, selected guests are invited to join a cocktail party at the bar located on the main wing. Selected returning guests, first time visitors, as well as IHG Premium members will get an invitation to join the cocktail party.
From 6PM-7PM, enjoy cocktails, wines, beers, as well as evening canapes while socializing with guests and hotel staffs.
The Facilities – Holiday Inn Phuket Resort
There is a free-form pool located on the main wing of the resort. The expansive swimming pool is surrounded by palm trees and exotic plants. Kids will also enjoy the pool with a kid’s pool, and a direct access to kid’s club. For adults, you can enjoy direct access to Terrazzo, as well as Patong Beach.
Guest staying at Busakorn Wing, will enjoy complimentary access to the Main Wing’s swimming pool. Furthermore, they will have exclusive access to 2 swimming pools at Busakorn Wing. The swimming pool is adult-only and guest not staying at Busakorn Wing are not allowed to use the pool.
The gym at Holiday Inn Resort Phuket is open 24/7, and offers complimentary access for guests staying in both Main Wing and Busakorn Wing.
Photo Opportunies
Holiday Inn Resort Phuket features many different photo op for tourist. If you are into taking that perfect picture for the gram, be sure to bring your best outfit for that perfect pic.
Final Thoughts
Overall, our stay at Holiday Inn Resort was very pleasant and enjoyable. It intends to create a ‘resort within a resort’ environment, offering multiple facilities and dining options, and one can stay at the resort all day to try out all the facilities. Furthermore, the resort is located within walking distance to Patong beach and Bangla road, and that’s more than enough reason for you to stay at Holiday Inn Resort the next time you are in Phuket!
