The Chow Kit is a new hotel by Ormond Group and was opened in 2019 with a retro-industrial design. The suites of The Chow Kit provided offer both street views and Kuala Lumpur city views.
The room we are staying at this time is called ‘The Den’, their smallest room. Named after the infamous gambling den in Chow Kit’s history, The Den is a comfortable, compact queen-size bedroom with thoughtful details – floor-to-ceiling windows, wooden floors, rain showers, luxury linens, smart TVs and custom organic toiletries.
In a typical Lost Voyager style, we informed the hotel in advance about us ‘celebrating our birthday’, and we had simple decorations in our room. Balloons scattered across the bed and a rather unique birthday cake artisanally constructed using 5 towels.
Hotel Review
The Room
I was greeted with a unique sight when I first entered our room. I love the decor of the room, very retro, and it feels like I was being transported back in time to 1970 NYC. Not to mention the floor-to-ceiling windows offering sceneries of the ever-busy traffic of Chow Kit road, and at night, a stark contrast which offers a peach of mind with wonderful well-lit KL skyline. The toilet in our room was decorated with black-colored tiles, coupled with the dimmed yellow lights and gold-coated taps, it does feel very luxurious.
The Service:
As soon as you enter The Chow Kit, you will be greeted with an ever-enthusiastic front desk. Check-In and Check-Out process is quick and easy. I was constantly asked by the front desk if I needed anything every time I walked past them, overall it felt very helpful. The overall service of my stay I received in this 4-star hotel is almost comparable to a 5-star hotel.
The Facility:-
The Chow Kit is a hotel with no gym nor swimming pool, reducing unnecessary amenities and focusing more on room designs and decorations and elevation of room amenities, toilets, and hotel decor. As much as I would like to go swimming in the hotel and head to the gym after a feast, I do feel like the overall décor of the hotel and rooms more than make up for it.
The Location:
Location of The Chow Kit is top-notch. It is located within walking distance to both LRT and Monorail station. Not to mention, the famous Kin-Kin Pan Mee is just a stone’s throw away.
