This is our first time staying over at Aloft Langkawi, and we had arrived at the hotel half past 6. We were too tired from the travel from KL, and was wondering what to have for dinner. We were obviously too exhausted to head out and look for good food (I know we should) and soon decided to stay at Aloft and have our dinner at Nook instead. We had a great time staying in a Sea-view room in Aloft Langkawi, and you can check it out HERE.
Nook Aloft Langkawi
Aloft Langkawi Pantai Tengah is a refreshing resort in the breathtaking destination of Langkawi. It was built in a way that resembles and provides a resort-like vibe. Nook is Aloft’s all-day-dining restaurant, as well as serving distinctive far and refreshing beverages from the bar. This restaurant is located beside the swimming pool, and guests can choose to dine inside the restaurant or outside by the pool and bar. The sun sets directly in front of the restaurant, providing a breathtaking view while sipping on the hotel’s signature cocktail.
We were super lucky to have witnessed the amazing sunset on our first day of being at Langkawi. After taking in the breathtaking view, we then head to Nook, which is just right beside the pool.
We were greeted by the same server who had just served us at the bar, and escorted us to our seats. We were seated outside of the restaurant, and facing the pool and sunset. The table was also decorated. Lovely gesture from the team at Aloft Langkawi!
The Food
Me and my partner were famished and each of us decided to go for a full 3 course meal and 1 drink each. We asked for recommendations from the waitress as well so here’s what we ordered.
I wanted to get some alcohol (we are in Langkawi after all) and the waitress recommended Absolutely Fabulous, a Beefeater mixed with Lime Juice, Lychee Juice and Lychee Fruit. Simple yet sophisticated at the same time. The cocktail tasted fruity but has a strong aftertaste. Definitely not for the faint hearted!
Lady boss decided that she had enough of alcohol for the day and went for a smoothie! The Mango Peach Blast consists of Mango Juice, Peach Puree, Lime Juice, Honey, Blue Lagoon and Yoghurt. It was a sweet drink with a hint of sourness and reminded us that we are in a tropical island with the shades of blue from the Blue Lagoon.
For starters, the waitress recommended Prawn Wasabi Mango Salsa, whereas we decided to get mushroom soup! The prawns were huge and succulent, and goes well with the wasabi mayonnaise and mango salsa. The mushroom soup has almost an oat-like consistency, and it’s just the perfect thickness (not too thick and not too watery).
For main course, lady boss decided to go for Seafood Pasta (she is a seafood freak) and the waitress recommended us to try Chef Asnan’s Signature Chicken Burger! We were shocked to see the burger as it was a HUGE portion. The breaded chicken was ginormous! The burger itself is very juice, and I like that there was mango salsa instead of your usual onion/tomato condiments. The burger came served with (also a huge portion) sweet potato fries. We felt that the burger is enough to feed 2 person as I struggled to finish the entire thing haha.
Lady boss had no complains with her dish. Fresh seafoods (Prawns, Clams, Squid and Green Mussel) goes well with the pasta. The tomyum sauce was sour and spicy at the same time and was extremely flavorful.
For desserts, Lady Boss was quick to point out that there’s sago gula Melaka on the menu (both of us are big fans of gula Melaka). The waitress, as enthusiastic as ever, asked us if we wanted to try the chocolate crème brûlée as well. We were a bit worried as it might get too substantial (or too sweet) for our liking, but she insisted that it was not.
The sago gula Melaka has the perfect combination of sweetness (gula Melaka), saltiness (coconut milk), and texture (sago). The star of the show has to be the crème brûlée ! Burnt and crispy on the outside, moist and thick on the inside. This was a chocolate lover’s heaven and an absolute guilty pleasure! Not too sweet, and has a strong chocolate-y flavor. A perfect way to end the meal!
Final Thoughts – Nook Aloft Langkawi
Overall, we spent close to 2 hours devouring all the good food served at Nook, Aloft Langkawi! We also had a great chat with the waitress and she kept checking on us regarding the food quality and taste (top notch service)! There were also a few customers dining at Nook and we personally felt that it was a seriously under-rated restaurant!
The sunset view from the restaurant was amazing, cocktail was fairly cheap, pricing of main course are reasonable and the food quality and portions are of the highest quality and generous! We would definitely be back here next time!
