Sunway Velocity Hotel is a 351 rooms 4-star hotel. It is part of the vibrant self-contained Sunway Velocity Development, directly connecting the hotel to Sunway Velocity Mall, Sunway College and Sunway Office Towers. First Impression – Sunway Velocity Hotel
The lobby area is well-lit and has plenty of natural sunlight. The check in process was quick and I managed to get my keycard in less than 10 minutes. There is also a Starbucks Kiosk as well as a mini mart (Kaffeinate Express) for your FnB needs – more on that later.
The Room
My room is located on the 16th floor, the same level as the swimming pool and the gym. The interior décor of the room has shads of green and yellow to it. There is a mini bar with bottled water, coffee and tea. I personally liked the long table just below the TV for me to put all my stuff (keycard, loose change etc.).
There is also a small table by the window. The window offers nothing interesting – just views of the ever busy Cheras street. The luggage area is big enough for me to put 2 bags.
The bed itself is pretty comfortable, and large enough for 2 person.
The toilet for me was pretty normal. Nothing stood out but it was comfortable for a couple of nights stay. The toilet has a single vanity, along with basic amenities. The shower and toilet area is separated by a glass door.
I also had the chance to check out their swimming pool. The salt water infinity pool offers magnificent views of Cheras, albeit missing the iconic twin towers and KL Tower. There is also a lounge area by the pool.
During my stay, I tried out Kaffeinate Express, Sunway Velocity Hotel’s own mini mart. Located on the lobby, Kaffeinate Express offers snacks (Onigiri, Sandwich), drinks (canned drinks and coffee) as well as ice cream and cup noodles. Pricing are pretty reasonable and similar to what you will pay for in typical convenient store.
I spent most of the time down at the Kaffeinate Express during teatime and supper, where I had the opportunity to try out some of the sandwiches and onigiri. I would highly recommend trying out the Egg sandwich as well as the Tuna Onigiri.
My 2-night stay at Sunway Velocity includes buffet breakfast, at Sunway Velocity Hotel’s all-day-dining-venue, Kaffeinate. Selection is pretty limited, with just a handful of dishes featuring western, Asian and Malaysian. What stood out was the pastry and snacks section, where we had the opportunity to taste fried yam cake, Malay kuihs, as well as some western muffins.
Final Thoughts – Sunway Velocity Hotel
All in all, our stay at Sunway Velocity Hotel was an enjoyable one. Room was perfect for the duration of our stay, and we totally enjoyed the pool and the Kaffeinate Express. Breakfast was on the average side, but should keep you energised until noon. We also liked the connectivity to Sunway Velocity Mall, extremely suitable for those who are keen on shopping and dining at mainstream restaurants and cafes.
