First Impression – Sunway Hotel Georgetown

Check In

As I arrived on a Friday, it was pretty crowded even its just 12PM. I was told by the receptionist that the hotel is operating at 100% occupancy and they are fully booked for the weekend! Anyhow, the lobby is well-lit and spacious. Check in was pretty smooth as well and the entire process took less than 10 minutes.

To access your hotel floor, your room key card is required. The gym and swimming pool is located on level 3 and is open until 9PM. Reservation is required and you need to call the front desk to unlock the doors for you to access the gym and swimming pool.

My room is located on level 14, the same level as the executive lounge. However, the lounge is closed due to the pandemic. My room was pretty spacious, and has the view of Komtar and also a partial seaview towards the end. Personally, I felt that the interior design is similar to Sunway Velocity Hotel, which I managed to experience staying last year.

Used to be a private check in area for club guests

The room was spacious, and has a large King-bed. Ironing board, slippers, and safe are provided. There is also a complimentary minibar where coffee, tea and mineral water are available.

Coffee and tea on offer

There is also a luggage area where you can put your bags, or in my case, my big red luggage.

I love the working desk where Sunway Hotel Georgetown managed to optimized the space with this long table. There is also a resting chair and a small table by the window overlooking the magnificent view of Georgetown.

Toilet is pretty simple with a single vanity, a toilet, and a separated shower. Basic toilet amenities are also provided.

The Breakfast

Breakfast is served ala carte (set meals) instead of buffet. You are required to select your desired set a day before. You can then head down to the cafe to collect your breakfast in the morning.

Each set comes with coffee/tea, bread and a cup of fruit. My first choice was Nasi Lemak with Ayam Rendang and my second choice was Char Kuey Teow with Spring Roll.

Food was average at best. Food was luke warm, and the bread was not toasted, unfortunately. Either way, there are tons of food available within walking distance from the hotel.

Final Thoughts – Sunway Hotel Georgetown

All in all, our stay at Sunway Hotel Georgetown was a no fuss, no funny business experience. Everything was professional, and the main selling point would be its spacious and clean room, extremely helpful front desk, and its close proximity to various food location.
