Boston Coffee Penang is a café of many ‘faces’. Located along the streets of Lebuh Victoria, Boston Coffee can be easily found just across the equally Instagrammable hotel, Victoria Garden.
Boston Coffee serves breakfast, as well as main courses throughout the day. There is also coffee, non-coffee as well as smoothies and frappe. The reason I mentioned Boston Coffee is a café of many faces because its vibe and environment changes as day past.
In the morning, Boston Coffee is well-lit indoors, perfect for a morning cuppa. In the evening, one can chill outdoors in a garden-like environment or stay indoors and indulge in live band on selected days of the week. We went on a weekday evening and decided to dine outdoors. Here’s what we tried.
We started out by trying their hot latte. There were multiple selections on offer but we decided to go for Irish Latte. The latte itself is very milky and has hints of vanilla and chocolate
We also went for a non-coffee, since its night time. Their mango coconut smoothie is a must-try! Coconut shake mixed with mango syrup/juice is the perfect combo and a great thirst-quencher.
For mains, we had the Garlic Butter Salmon, which is a house-specialty. The salmon is cooked perfectly and extremely juicy. However, the garlic butter flavor was missing and what we tasted was just the pure fresh salmon flavor (not that we are complaining). We also liked the fact that it was served with a side of mashed pumpkin, very appetizing.
We also tried another specialty, Thai Tomyum seafood pasta. Basically, it is Aglio Olio with Tomyum sauce. The sauce is sour and spicy, and the pasta is cooked al-Dante. There’s prawns and squid in this dish, however we found the seafood to be on the not-so-fresh list.
We also had the opportunity to try out the Sourdough Tobikko with Cheese. The sourdough is topped with cheese, along with tobikko and cheese. It felt like we were eating pizza to be honest. This was our favorite dish.
Final Thoughts
Boston Coffee Penang is a great place to chill and unwind for an hour or two. There are some interesting foods that are worth a visit.
