During our stay at Tune Hotel KLIA2, we had the opportunity to dine at Makan, Tune Hotel’s all-day-dining restaurant. We decided to head over to Makan after our trip to Mitsui, at around 8PM.

The Interior

Being a restaurant in a transit hotel, you’d expect to see hints of airplanes in the restaurant. The restaurant is spacious, and doesn’t feel stuffy as compared to other more compact diners.

Jungle vibe

The restaurant has sofas and lounge chairs for people to chill and have a sip of coffee, and proper tables for those who go for a proper meal.

The Food – Makan @ Tune Hotel KLIA2

When we were there at 8PM, there was no once except us. That is expected considering people have not yet started to fly. But we were glad that the servers are very enthusiastic and took care of us very well. We were still pretty full so we only ordered 1 main course each. We would love to try more but at the same time we don’t want to waste food

We asked for some recommendations and here’s what we ordered:

Iced Mocha (RM13), Virgin Pina Colada (RM16)

Since the trip was to Langkawi, I decided to go for something tropical. A mocktail version of the Rum-inspired cocktail, Virgin Pina Colada was sweet and refreshing due to the vanilla syrup and pineapple juice. Let’s not forget the creamy texture from the coconut cream. Tad too sweet for me but it was thirst-quenching nonetheless.

Lady boss decided to go for caffeine, and Iced Mocha is her no.1 choice! The Iced Mocha was more on the coffee side, and the chocolate is being overpowered by the coffee. This mocha might not be a sweet tooth’s favourite but it was acceptable for both of us!

Salted Egg Shrimp Aglio Olio (RM34)
Seafood Curry Laksa (RM25)

The waitress recommended me to go for the Salted Egg Shrimp Pasta, whereas lady boss couldn’t resist the seafood curry laksa. The pasta was cooked to perfection. Noodles were al-dante, salted egg sauce was extremely flavourful and coated well with the pasta, and the jumbo shrimp to go with it! The shrimp were extremely fresh, and it was almost effortless to peel the shell from the shrimp!

The curry laksa was too much for lady boss to take in. Thick and savoury curry broth, and almost the entire ocean in the bowl for her: clams, mussels, prawns, squids. It was such a huge portion lady boss had to transfer some of the seafood to another plate LOL. Taste wise the curry broth was very thick, and a hint of sourness from the lime! However, lady boss felt that there were too much noodles and that took away some broth!

Final Thoughts – Makan @ Tune Hotel KLIA2

Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Makan! We’ve never had such a full meal (portion size was HUGEEEE) and for the price, we felt it was affordable and reasonable! The only disappointment was we did not have the opportunity to try their starters and desserts, as we were too full and we didn’t want to waste food. However, this gives us another opportunity to be back and sample more foods!
