Atoll offers one-of-its-kind dining experience for those who seeks a unique al-fresco setting for a culinary and sensory delight! The restaurant is floating in the heart of Laguna Phuket’s waterways, and guest would have to take a complimentary short boat ride to reach Atoll. Due to its ‘strategic’ location, Atoll Phuket offers unparalleled lagoon views, with a stunning sunset on the horizon.
First Impression
I walked past Angsana Phuket before getting to a ‘jetty’ and meeting a representative there. From the jetty, one would need to take a shuttle boat to get to Atoll. The shuttle boat is free for all guests.
The Food
For starters, we decided to go for prawn skewers. 3 pieces of prawn char-grilled, and served on stick. The prawns were juicy and succulent.
We then followed up with a Koji-cured egg yolk with Salmon and Apple. Salmon are diced up, and tasted fresh. The apple goes very well with the salmon, offering a different dimension to the dish.
For mains, I went for a Chili Caramel Pork Belly and Apple Slaw. The pork belly was crispy on the outside, and super juicy on the inside. The distribution of fat and lean meat was on point. The apple slaw cuts through the fat and greasiness of the pork.
We also had a Vietnamese Chicken Pho. Thin flat noodles cooked in chicken broth, and was serve in a very flavorful chicken soup. You can also go for the original Vietnamese Pho, cooked in a beef broth as well.
For drinks, we tried 2 different cocktails, namely Full Moon and Red Diamond.
We really liked the presentation of Full Moon, served on a wine glass and with a passion fruit shaped like a moon. It is essentially a passion fruit cocktail with Vodka as base.
Red Diamond is a very picturesque cocktail due to it’s pink hue. The main ingredient is pomegranate, and has Vodka and Maraschino as base.
Last but not least, we had a peanut butter parfait with chocolate, drizzled in salted caramel sauce. The parfait was full of peanut butter flavor and goes well with the saltiness of the salted caramel.
As of the time of writing, there will be a complimentary water show featuring Atoll’s very own ‘fly-men’, happening on every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday on 8PM. It is essentially a fly-board rider, complimented with amazing moves and perfectly choses music. You can also get a glass of sparkling wine from the fly-men after the show, served while he is fly-boarding.
Final Thoughts
We find Atoll to be a very unique experience to start with. From taking a complimentary shuttle boat, dining at a floating platform, and to a jet-boarding show, it was a one-of-its-kind experience and we would highly recommend you to head to Atoll for food, or for their innovative Thai culture-incorporated cocktails.
