First Impression – Jen Hotel Penang

As I walked into Jen Hotel, I was welcomed by their generous looking lobby, with high ceiling and ample natural sunlight.

I like how Jen Hotel has incorporated the blue/green and gold color into their design of the lobby and reception area. It felt luxurious, yet welcoming and not so exclusive.

Lobby

I arrived on a weekday at around 1 PM and thankfully it was not crowded at all. Check in was a breeze and a little over 10 minutes later I was directed to my room. I was rushing to put my things as I need to head to Cafe Jen for lunch. You can check out our review HERE.

My room is located on Level 12, and its a Deluxe King Room with club lounge access. Our room also includes a breakfast buffet at Cafe Jen. You can check out our review HERE!

The Room

I actually like the size of the room. Not too big yet sufficiently fitted with all the necessary furniture.

The wardrobe is just nice and has all the things you need. I loved the slippers provided, felt extremely comfortable wearing those.

Opposite the wardrobe is an area where you can put your bags and other stuffs. Not too big but sufficient for 2 travel luggage.

Mini Bar

Mini bar is also provided, with generous amount of complimentary coffees and teas, as well as 4 bottles of drinking water.

There is also freshly cut fruits in the fridge, as well as welcome amenities of cookies and chocolates. 2 recycle bags are also provided. It felt like a Christmas holiday with so many free gifts haha.

The working desk is located beside the window. I like rooms with working desk so that I can work on my blogs. The TV in the room is rather small but to be honest, I didn’t even have the time to watch TV as I was busy exploring the area.

The bed was comfortable and soft, nothing much to complain. I like the lounge chair beside the window, so comfortable. The view is actually facing Magazine road, directly towards The Wembley Hotel. We stayed in Cititel, sister hotel of The Wembley, and you can check our review HERE.

Toilet

The toilet is rather small. Single vanity with a huge mirror. Full set of bathroom amenities are provided. The one thing that I don’t like was the bathtub+shower. As much as I appreciate bathtubs, I don’t like where the shower is in the tub itself. It’s pretty difficult to shower for someone the size of me LOL.

The Facilities – Jen Hotel

The main facilities includes the gym and a swimming pool! The pool, surprisingly has a 2M depth!

Gym

The Club Lounge

The executive lounge was closed and relocated to the lobby lounge in the lobby due to capacity restriction. Guest with lounge access are able to get unlimited soft drinks, juices, coffee and tea all day. Evening canapes are served from 530-730PM with free flow spirits.

Evening Canapes

Each guest was served a serving of evening snacks. It includes a fried beehoon (flavorful but very dry), few pieces of chicken meatballs and few slices of cakes. I also ordered a shot of Whiskey to go with the Ginger Ale.

Orange Juice + Vodka

To end my feast at the lounge, I also ordered a shot of Vodka with orange juice. A self-made screwdriver cocktail HAHA!

Overall the foods and drinks at the lounge were tasty. However, it’s a shame that the club lounge was not open. I would love to be back when the club lounge is open again in the future.

Final Thoughts – Jen Hotel Penang

Overall, our stay at Jen Hotel was extremly enjoyable. The team at Jen, from receptionist to housekeeping, were extremely enthuastic and welcoming. We also had a lovely breakfast and lunch in Jen’s all day dining restaurant, Cafe Jen, and you can check it out HERE!

We would like to thank Ellie and the Jen team for their hospitality and for hosting us for 1 night! We thoroughly enjoyed out stay.
